Slurry pumps convey a mixture of solid particles containing slag and water. However, in principle, slurry pumps are a type of centrifugal pump. In steel enterprises, they are mainly used for slurry transportation in systems such as converter dust removal water, blast furnace gas washing water, continuous casting turbid ring water, and steel rolling turbid ring water.
The commonly used slurry pump structures are as follows.
(1) Pump head structure. The pump body adopts a double-layer pump casing (double-layer metal structure inside and outside). The double pump casing outer shell structure is vertically split. The outlet position can be installed and used in 8 different positions at 45° intervals. In order to effectively prevent shaft seal leakage, a combination of dynamic seal, packing seal or mechanical seal is adopted. A labyrinth gap seal is provided between the impeller and the rear guard plate, which greatly reduces the leakage of slurry to the packing box and effectively ensures the reliability of the seal. The impeller is provided with a back blade to discharge the reflux slurry in time, thereby increasing the volume ratio, reducing reflux and erosion, and increasing the life of the flow-through components. A disassembly ring is provided to facilitate maintenance and disassembly to avoid the phenomenon of shaft cutting due to inability to disassemble.
(2) Bracket structure. The bracket structure is horizontally split. To extend the service life of the bearing, the hydraulic design and structural design are optimized. The radial force and axial force are reasonably distributed, and the bearing type, model, cooling and lubrication method are correctly selected, so as to meet the requirements of low heat generation and long service life of the bearing.
(3) Shaft seal type. The shaft seal device seals the pump body and the pump shaft. It can prevent air from invading the pump and a large amount of water from leaking out of the pump. The sealing form of the centrifugal slurry pump usually adopts the auxiliary impeller plus packing seal. The auxiliary impeller plus packing seal is a fluid dynamic seal. The pressure head generated by the auxiliary impeller resists the leakage of the impeller outlet liquid. At the same time, the impeller cover is equipped with a back blade, a water seal ring and a packing to prevent air from entering. The back blade and the water seal ring are used to reduce the pressure at the packing, which has the effect of preventing impurities from entering the seal.
