The BBW concentrated sulfuric acid pump is optimally designed based on the performance parameters of the IS - type centrifugal pump, using two materials, namely special cast iron for concentrated sulfuric acid and carbon steel, and an excellent hydraulic model. Material Selection Basis
Special steel is widely used in 80 - 100% sulfuric acid, and the temperature can reach 60 - 80ºC. In sulfuric acid within this concentration and temperature range, a protective ferric sulfate film can form on the surface of the steel. Cast iron is not suitable for fuming sulfuric acid exceeding 100%, possibly because sulfur trioxide reacts with the silicon contained in the iron, making the cast iron brittle. Carbon steel is not suitable for 100 - 102% fuming sulfuric acid, but it is applicable for acids exceeding 102%, with the temperature limit being approximately 60ºC. Dilute sulfuric acid causes significant corrosion to steel. When the acid concentration is around 47%, the corrosion rate reaches the maximum value. When the acid concentration is greater than 65%, the corrosion rate of steel decreases significantly. However, in the concentration range of 65 - 80%, it is still advisable not to use steel, and it is safer to use lead or other materials resistant to dilute acid.
Sulfuric acid concentration: 80% - 98%, operating temperature of special cast iron: 25ºC - 50ºC.
Precautions
It is strictly prohibited for the mechanical seal to work under dry friction conditions.
Open the inlet valve to fill the entire pump cavity with liquid.
Check that the temperature rise at the motor and bearings is ≤70ºC. Deal with any abnormalities promptly.
Install regulating valves on the inlet and outlet pipelines of the pump to control the pump to operate within the rated working conditions.
Before installation, carefully check whether there are hard objects in the flow passage of the pump body to avoid damaging the impeller and the pump body during operation.
Connect the power supply. After the pump reaches normal rotational speed, gradually open the valve on the discharge pipeline and adjust to the required working conditions.
